From 1971 until 2001, the twin towers of the World Trade
Center looked over the Manhattan skyline as a symbol of American strength and opportunity. The towers held over ten
million square feet of office space, more than some modern cities. When they were built by the Port Authority of New
York, they were the tallest buildings in the world.
On the morning of Tuesday September 11th, 2001--the world
that we knew forever changed. Those of us who watched the events live on our television sets have the images forever
burned into our memory.

"The pictures of airplanes flying into buildings, fires burning,
huge structures collapsing, have filled us with disbelief, terrible sadness, and a quiet, unyielding anger. These acts of
mass murder were intended to frighten our nation into chaos and retreat. But they have failed; our country is strong.
A great people has been moved to defend a great nation. Terrorist
attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America. These acts shattered
steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve.
America was targeted for attack because we're the brightest beacon
for freedom and opportunity in the world. And no one will keep that light from shining...
This is a day when all Americans from every walk of life unite in
our resolve for justice and peace. America has stood down enemies before, and we will do so this time. None of us will ever
forget this day. Yet, we go forward to defend freedom and all that is good and just in our world." - President George
W. Bush September 11, 2001

This memorial page is for the innocents that perished on that Tuesday morning.
We remember especially those in the New York Police Department, New York City Fire Department, the
Port Authority Police, Flights 175, 93, 77, 11, those workers and visitors in the Pentagon, and in the two towers of the World
Trade Center. We will never forget.
